Discuss the CT PT of the substation?
CT PT is a type of
Instrument Transformer. The transformer not only does voltage up-down but also
measures voltage current. And this is what City PT does. Whose full form is a current transformer and potential transformer?
Two of the members of
the substation family are CT and PT who are like two brothers. More or less
everyone is aware of these two brothers. However, today I have come to talk
about these two brothers in the story and to talk about the process of their
determination.
What is the function of CT and PT?
Widely used in
substations, generating stations, metering panels, circuit breakers, and relay
operations. And to put it a little simpler, all the places where high voltage
and current need to be measured, CT and PT, these two brothers help a lot.
Why CT and PT are necessary?
We know that millions
of volts of electricity are transmitted in a transmission line. It is not
possible to measure this huge current and voltage with an ammeter and voltmeter.
Accidents can happen when measuring with an ammeter and voltmeter.
If the size of the emitter
and voltmeter is increased then measurement can be done but it is expensive and
risky. So current and voltage are measured using CT and PT.
CT and PT are of different sizes depending on the current and voltage measurements.
